UKRN: A Space Odyssey – a journey through the STAR and METEOR projects

June 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Register

Description:

The quality and rigour of research is affected by the conditions in which it takes place. For example, a culture in which constructive challenge and learning are valued is likely to lead to better research than one where they are not. An environment that includes sustained and effective support for transparent research practices such as open data is likely to lead to higher uptake of those practices.  Two UKRN projects, co-funded by UKRN’s members, are investigating these issues. They are STAR (Sustainable and TrAnsparent Research data), reviewing the arrangements institutions have in place to support open data, and METEOR (METa-research for the Enhancement of Research culture), exploring how institutions use research evidence to inform their research culture.

This webinar will talk through the preliminary findings and emerging themes from each project and aims to stimulate discussion around these themes with the UKRN community during the Q&A.

Speakers:

  • Jess Wheeler: Senior Research Associate in Qualitative Research, Project Lead for STAR
  • Pen-Yuan Hsing: Senior Research Associate, STAR project
  • Robbie Clark: Research Associate, METEOR project
  • Ros Strang: Project Coordinator, STAR and METEOR projects
