The OR4 project achieved significant milestones in 2023-24, staying on track to deliver all outputs on time. In March 2024 we published a report summarizing the results of the institutional activity and requirements survey, released to all UK HEIs from April to September 2023.  The survey was completed by 60 UK higher education institutions and provided a good overview on current practices in open research reward and recognition.

The Community of Practice expanded to 50 institutions, including 14 case study and 36 community of practice institutions. In January 2024 we launched the first pilot phase of our Toolkit development (which consists of the Maturity Framework, Self-assessment Tool, and Implementation Guide). The community of practice and case study institutions have been actively engaged in piloting the resources and providing feedback on their experience. The pilot was completed in the summer of 2024 and the resources were released October at recognition.ukrn-openresearch.ac.uk.

Efforts to boost awareness included social media, press releases, and conference talks, resulting in increased visibility and participation. We are entering 2024-25 with the first versions of all the project outputs released or ready for release. Our task for the remainder of the project will be to work closely with the Advisory Group, and the case study and community of practice institutions in order to iteratively update our resources, and evaluate their impact.  Read about our progress in the full report: OR4 Project Annual Report 2023-24
