The UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN) is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to serve as the Chair of the EDI Advisory Committee. This pivotal role provides leadership in advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion across the UK research landscape, ensuring that EDI principles are integrated into UKRN’s policies, practices, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and advise on delivery of the EDI aspects of UKRN’s Strategy and Annual Plan.
  • Chair regular EDI Advisory Committee meetings, setting agendas, and driving outcomes.
  • Collaborate with UKRN leadership to integrate EDI into all aspects of the network’s activities.
  • Advise on best practices and frameworks to remove barriers to inclusivity and diversity.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of EDI initiatives and actions across UKRN’s activities.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to promote and enhance EDI efforts within the research community.

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, although we are not necessarily looking for experience chairing committees or leading strategic initiatives – our aim is for diversity!
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in a research or academic context.
  • Knowledge of EDI principles, challenges, and opportunities within the higher education or research sectors.

Recruitment Information:

This is a voluntary position with an expected time commitment of approximately ~1 day per month. The Chair will serve for a term of one year, with the possibility of extension. This role provides a unique opportunity to shape the future of EDI in UK research and work with leading institutions across the country. Interested candidates should submit a CV by 17:00 GMT on Friday 29th November.

We are also looking to expand the general membership of the EDI committee and would welcome applications by those wishing to considered as members by the above deadline.
