The UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) and the UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN) have jointly welcomed the release of the refreshed Concordat to Support Research Integrity, viewing it as a significant milestone in upholding the UK’s reputation for high-quality research. Both organizations endorse the Concordat’s principles and are committed to supporting their implementation across the research community. However, despite the many positive changes in this refreshed Concordat, UKRIO and UKRN believe there is still work to be done in four key areas: Tackling questionable research practices; handling potential breaches of research integrity; accountability; and streamlining reporting requirements.

UKRN’s purpose is to enable collaboration across the research system to improve research practices; many of the challenges can only be met through collective and strategic action between different stakeholders, in line with the Concordat. For example, the six new UKRN special interest groups in topics from arts research to computational reproducibility will provide opportunities for system-wide collaboration.
